Make mom an amazing soy, chilli and orange Pork burger with coleslaw this Mother’s Day

We know that every year, you spoil mom with a host of gifts, sweet treats and love, so why not try something different this year. Make mom this mouth-watering soy, chilli and orange Pork burger with Coleslaw.  “This not-so-average-burger is guaranteed to be a hit,” says Wayland Green, Culinary Artist at Granny Mouse Country House & Spa.

You will need:

Ingredients

100g    Pork Loin (cut into strips and remove some of the fat)

30ml    Dark Soy Sauce

Orange Juice and Zest

Chilli

Salt & Pepper to taste

Method

In a bowl combine all the above ingredients, and let it sit overnight to marinade and combine all the flavours.

When you are ready to eat this delicious burger, drain some of the liquid away to avoid it burning when you cook the pork. Don’t throw this liquid away though as you will need it later!

Make sure your oven is at 180*C while you prepare everything else.

Put a large pan on high heat and heat it up until it starts to smoke. Pour a little oil in the pan and place the pork in the hot pan.

Spread the pork out evenly to ensure even cooking.

Brown the pork on all sides and add the liquid back into the pan with a teaspoon of butter.

Melt the butter and bring the sauce to a boil.

Transfer the pork into an oven proof dish and place in the oven to finish the cooking.

When it is ready set aside for assembling.

For the coleslaw, you will need:

Ingredients

White Cabbage

Carrot

Gherkins

Red Onion

Mayonnaise

Method

Chop the vegetables as small as you can, and mix well with the mayonnaise.

Adjust the seasoning to suit your taste, and make as much as you prefer, as you can keep the leftovers for dinner the night after!

Now it is time to assemble this gourmet dish for mom!

Get yourself a nice fresh sesame bun and cut through.

Spread some butter on both sides and toast in a hot pan.

Place the pork first and then top with the coleslaw, and voila! A gourmet meal awaits….
