Granny Mouse work together to be water wise!

As one of the world’s growing list of scarce commodities, being water wise has recently become a hot topic in the hotel industry as a whole, with the key focus being on how each and every hotel can play their part in implementing water wise programmes in every day operations.

Although nestled within a generous rainfall area, Granny Mouse Country House & Spa in the Caversham Valley has taken the initiative of assessing the manner in which the Hotel uses water both in their rooms and throughout the Hotel’s magnificent gardens.

“We all know that water is a scarce commodity in South Africa, and although we are located within a high rainfall area, we do not take this for granted,” said General Manager, Sean Granger.

“In each and every room, we ask guests to use water sparingly, and make use of grey water to ensure our gardens are kept in immaculate condition. It is important for us that we use water sparingly, and are constantly assessing ways in which we can better monitor the use of water in all areas of our hotel,” he added.

Adding to the hotel’s overall strategy for minimising its water consumption, the Granny Mouse Country House & Spa team are looking into manners in which they can harness the natural rain water that is abundant on the property, and how this can be used to further reduce their impact on the water required to ensure the functioning of the hotel as a whole.
