Massage your way to better health

Right now, most of us are suffering the stresses and strains of daily living. Usually, there’s not enough time in a day to get things done, like tick off the boss’s wish list, collect the kids from school and deliver them to a sports match, meet with your BFF’s after work, make the gym, do the grocery shopping, dish up supper, study, check those emails, return phone calls, wish your mother-in-law happy birthday … the list just goes on and on.

Massage is the ideal therapy for those of us caught up in the ever accelerating hamster’s wheel of tasks and tribulations.

Although there’s still room for plenty of research in this area, this age old form of complementary medicine is believed to reduce stress, improve circulation, loosen up those tight muscles and tendons, reduce pain, help eliminate toxins, improve sleep, enhance your immune system, relieve fatigue and more.

The Camelot Spa’s therapists believe that a good massage is the perfect antidote for stress and fatigue and helps restore lost vigor and energy. It is an excellent way to relax, unwind and rejuvenate.

“Massages are most certainly beneficial in so many ways and, when done by a true professional, can induce many long term gains. Simply feeling pampered can have a hugely positive effect and relieve those psychological strains that can actually lead to physical illness,” they explain.

One thing that’s certain is that a good massage helps with muscle knots and stiffness and is particularly good at reducing pain, resulting from either bad posture or over work.

When you are very tense, your body can produce unhealthy levels of the stress hormone, cortisol. Sound medical research has proven that too much cortisol can be directly linked to weight gain, sleeplessness, digestive problems and headaches. Massage therapy has been shown to decrease cortisol levels and help the body to relax and recover. This improves your mood.

Massage also helps improve circulation. Pressure and rubbing can help move blood through the body, improving blood flow to the tissues and removing any build-up of lactic acid from the muscles. Improved circulation also rejuvenates the lymphatic system, helping it to better remove toxins from internal organs and tissues.

At Granny Mouse, you can pick from a range of different types of massage, each targeting slightly different problems and delivering much needed relief.

A Swedish full body massage eases tense muscles and induces relaxation.

An aromatherapy full body massage using the purest natural essential oils with healing therapeutic strokes can iron out stiffness and improve your mood while a deep tissue full body massage can help remove tension that has built up over long periods.

Another option is the Granny Mouse spa hot stone full body massage. This re-energising stone therapy treatment has a cleansing, harmonizing and relaxing effect on the body.

All massage is done in the tranquil and comforting treatment rooms at the spa – a wonderful, warm escape from the harsh winter weather outside!
