Turn up the fun with your next conference

We all love a good competition. So, if you need to rejuvenate your team at your next conference, why not add some fun team building activities? Not only do these activities add a fun element to any conference, but they bring out the creativity in your team.

We recently chatted to Royal Palm general manager, Simon Bailey, who commented – “As a city-based hotel and due to our location, we are uniquely positioned to compile a host of team building activities for our conferencing clients that really flip the traditional conference vibe on its head.”

Located directly across from Gateway Theatre of Shopping, in the heart of the Umhlanga New Town Centre, Royal Palm’s location allows for some of the following team building activities:

  1. An Amazing Race: This race-around, action packed team building activity can be really great for larger groups as they select a team member to complete the task at hand to secure their next clue. Given Royal Palm Hotel’s location, this can easily be activated on foot with activities such as wave riding, bowling, arcade games and shopping, to name just a few.
  2. Be the chef: Whether you like cooking or have zero skills in the kitchen, teams of three or four find themselves on the chopping block. They have to either prepare one course or one of the courses of a meal, for their colleagues. Under the watchful eye of executive chef, Guy Gorrie, and embracing their wine knowledge, “be the chef,” includes selecting an appropriate wine to accompany the dish.
  3. Room Escape: This amazingly fun activity will find each team locked in a room where they will have to solve a number of clues, within a set period of time, to unlock the door. They will need to use all of their intellectual and lateral thinking to make it out before the clock runs out.
  4. Green team building: Given the hotel’s proximity to the beach, your team can take part in a beach clean-up, helping to remove some the debris that constantly washes up on our beautiful beaches. Not only will this bond your team, but it will add a real sense of purpose to your next conference.

These are only some of the ideas that are available to you when you book your next conference at Royal Palm Hotel, so contact the team today on (031) 581 8000 or email events@royal-palm.co.za
