Granny Mouse welcomes you home this Christmas

With the season to be merry a few weeks away, it is time to plan a special Christmas lunch celebration, and because it is holiday season, why not choose Granny Mouse Country House & Spa, located a mere 1 hour and 30 minutes from Durban and a friendly neighbour of Pietermaritzburg, right in the heart of Balgowan on the Midlands Meander route.

Culinary Artists, Wayland Green and Kirstie du Toit have created a scrumptious 5 course Christmas Lunch on December 25th, in a Table of Unity style for those looking to celebrate Christmas at ‘home away from home’.

With welcome drinks on arrival at 12h00, guests will be seated at a long single dining table where they can meet new friends, celebrate with the friendly staff and make the most of the Christmas celebrations which begin promptly at 12h30.

The menu includes a wonderful experience for the taste buds, with course 1 set as Mushroom Risotto Cakes, sautéed leeks, saffron cream, curry crumb and boozed raisins; course 2 – Turkey Terrine with red wine cherries, candied pecan nuts, turkey crackling and smoked pumpkin puree; course 3 – Seared Herb Salmon with beetroot chips, beetroot caviar, wild rocket pesto, garlic & wasabi wilted spinach and lemon aioli, as well as a palette cleanser of Lavender Sorbet with Italian meringue and spiced berry compote before course 4 is served.

Adding to this feast with be a Rack of Lamb with herb & mushroom stuffing, pomme puree, poached pear, sugar snap and roast garlic jus as course 4 and for those who adore a sweet treat to end it all off, the final course, dessert, will be Apple Puree with apple crisps, white chocolate shards, candied macadamia nut crumb, spiced sponge cake and brandied oranges.

Each dish within the 5 course meal is accompanied by paired wines to add to the festive cheer. Just as Santa would like it!

Lunch costs R850.00 per person with welcome drinks served promptly at 12h00 and the Table of Unity gathering starting at 12h30. Not suitable for persons under the age of 18, however there will be a play area available for children with child-minders where hamburgers and chips with a soft drink will be available at a cost of R50 per person.
