Meet our Farmhouse Manager

Located a mere 900 metres from the main entrance to Granny Mouse Country House & Spa, lies the magnificent Farmhouse at Granny Mouse, a unique and tastefully decorated addition to the Granny Mouse offering, and run under the watchful eye of Cornelia Busane.

Growing up in the Pietermaritzburg area, Busane moved to the Midlands in 1992 and initially began her career with the Granny Mouse team working in the scullery, and ensuring that breakfast was always a fine affair before being promoted to the housekeeping division as a cleaner. Her diligence and attention to detail paid off over the years, as within a few years, she was promoted to Housekeeping Assistant and later Housekeeping Supervisor.

Busane was presented with a new challenge in 2014 when she was offered the Farmhouse Manager role, and with her usual enthusiasm, jumped at the opportunity stating that, “I love a new challenge and the responsibility of taking care of something so homely and beautiful.” She goes on to comment that she loves working with the Granny Mouse Management Team, as her hard work and overall efforts are often rewarded, and that makes all the difference to her job on a daily basis.

When asked what guests thought of the Farmhouse, Busane commented that, “they are often amazed at how large the Farmhouse is, and how beautiful everything is.” With her love of guest interactions clearly visible, Busane says that she often feels sad when guests leave, as she loves being a part of making them feel relaxed and at home.

Book your next holiday at the magnificent Farmhouse at Granny Mouse and let Busane and her team take care of you.

Finding the prefect family getaway!

For many South Africans, spending time with family is top priority for the festive season.

Many families see time spent away at a destination – where one can relax and have fun at an affordable cost – as the perfect getaway. Granny Mouse Country House & Spa allow for this ideology to become a reality.

Situated in the centre of the famous Midlands Meander in the KwaZulu Natal Midlands at the foothills of the Ukhahlamba-Drakensberg, one of South Africa’s world heritage sites – this popular Hotel has 32 rooms, with many suited for family visitors.

Our family rooms, which share the Granny Mouse heritage, having been built as the first accommodation at Granny Mouse, close to 30 years ago, offer two spacious rooms and separate bathrooms for parents and children.

For many parents, a trip to a Hotel is not always a homely experience, but can be quite cold and rigid. At the Mouse House, which it is more affectionately known as, there is always a “home away from home” feel that embraces the entire family.

For the kids, and the odd parent, a marshmallow mouse is given on arrival when checking in. There are also board games and various sports equipment on hand for hire and a miniature kid’s gown and slippers in the room to match mom and dads.

When it comes to a fun holiday experience, not only have Granny Mouse got a large area where children can run around, under adult supervision, at the base of the property next to the Lion’s River, but there is also a newly erected Jungle Gym next to the swimming pool deck, so mom and dad are able to have some free time relaxing by the pool, while the kids keep themselves busy for hours before lunch at the Bistro which also offers a children’s menu.

There are also a number of attractions around the area including the Karkloof Canopy Tours; horse riding; quad biking; golf; hot air ballooning; birding; fly fishing and mountain biking; to name a few. There are also a number of tourist attractions within a few kilometers of the Hotel including the Nelson Mandela capture site and art gallery for history and art lovers.

For a larger family group, there is also the newly developed Farmhouse, which sleeps 12 and forms the self-catering section of the Hotel only a few minutes away from the property itself.

Not only has Granny Mouse got all you need on offer, with many options to choose from, it is also a great place to visit for passers-by on their way to another destination. Have a quick bite at our restaurant, or visit our onsite Spa. The list is endless and the staff are always welcoming, so book your stay today.
